Adopted order requiring Google and Facebook to remove credit card scam content

On 24 March 2023, the Brazilian National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) under the Ministry of Justice and Public Security issued an order that applies to the Brazilian offices of Google and Facebook regarding the removal of illegal content. Specifically, the illegal content in question is associated with an online credit card scam. If Google and Facebook do not remove the content and exclude similar content from their platforms within 48 hours of notification, they will be subject to a daily fine of BRL 15’000.
