Ireland: Announced Digital Services Bill 2023 designating Irish Digital Services Coordinator

On 20 March 2023, the Irish Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment published the “General Scheme of the Digital Services Bill 2023”, which gives an overview of the Bill giving effect to the parts of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) requiring national implementation. In particular, the General Scheme designates the “Coimisiún na Meán” (Media Commission) as the Digital Services Coordinator under the DSA. The Digital Services Coordinator is the competent authority to supervise and implement the DSA and will participate in the European Board for Digital Services.
