Ruling against Meta and WhatsApp for failing to register in data controller registry
On 22 March 2023, the state-run news agency Anadolu Agency announced that the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) sanctioned Meta and WhatsApp with a fine of TRY 2.6 million each for failing to enrol in the data controller registry (VERBIS). The companies were granted 30 days to register.
