United States of America: Introduced Sunshine in Product Safety Act (HR 1686)

On 21 March 2023, the Sunshine in Product Safety Act (HR 1686) was introduced in the United States House of Representatives. The Act aims to improve consumer safety by repealing Section 6(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Act that restricts the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from providing consumers with information about products that could endanger them and hinders the CPSC's ability to swiftly impose product recalls. The Act would allow consumers to have information about the safety of the product without the company's permission.
