Datatilsynet opens investigation into Grindr for disclosure of user information

On 14 January 2020, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet)announced the opening of an investigation into the dating service Grindr after receiving a complaint from the Consumer Council that there had been illegal sharing of user information. Datatilsynet emphasised that, despite being a US-based company, Grindr was still subject to the GDPR with respect to its operations in Norway.
