Issued ruling upholding Datatilsynet NOK 65 million fine on Grindr

On 29 September 2023, the Norwegian Privacy Board issued its ruling in the appeal brought by Grindr against the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) fine of NOK 65 million (approx. EUR 5.8 million). The Board upheld the fine and the measures imposed by the Datatilsynet. On 15 December 2021, Datatilsynet found during its investigation that Grindr had illegally shared users' personal data with third parties, including GPS information, IP addresses, as well as age and gender. Furthermore, the consent that Grindr collected from users to process and share such information was not valid.
