Adopted FCC Voluntary Cybersecurity Labeling Program for Smart Devices

On 14 March 2024, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established a voluntary cybersecurity labelling program for wireless consumer Internet of Things (IoT) products, aiming to enhance consumer awareness and incentivise manufacturers to adhere to higher cybersecurity standards. The "US Cyber Trust Mark", accompanied by a QR code, shall help buyers make informed choices and encourage manufacturers to meet higher cybersecurity standards and reduce risks. Oversight will be provided by the FCC, with third-party administrators managing activities such as product evaluation and consumer education. Compliance testing will be conducted by accredited labs.
