Description

Issued ACM blocking order following investigation into TI-84shop for allegedly using unfair business practices

On 14 March 2024, the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) shut down the online store TI-84shop with judicial authorisation, marking the first time such action has been taken by the consumer protection authority. TI84 shop, which sold consumer electronics such as game consoles, calculators, and Apple products, faced numerous complaints regarding poor accessibility, failure to adhere to the 14-day cooling-off period, and suspected manipulation of reviews. In response, ACM forced the online store's various websites to go offline, preventing new orders and ensuring complaints were redirected to TI84-Shop's customer service. This ruling follows the one from 30 October 2023, which imposed the 14-day cooling-off period.
