On 24 February 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) sent a letter to Meta Platforms, previously Facebook, demanding the platform to lift the restrictions imposed on four Russian media channels. Roskomnadzor stated that Facebook blocked access to the publications by Zvezda TV, RIA Novosti, Lenta.ru and Gazeta.ru, claiming that this represents a violation of the user right to unimpeded access to information.
