The consultation on the proposals for reform of the Privacy Act 1988 outlined in a discussion paper issued by the Australian Attorney-General’s Department closed on 10 January 2022 after it ran from 25 October 2021. The stakeholders were invited to submit their feedback on the Act’s scope and application, the effectiveness of the protections outlined as privacy principles, promotion of good privacy practices, and effectiveness of the act’s enforcement mechanisms. The collected feedback will be taken into account when writing the final report regarding potential changes to the Privacy Act 1998.
