On 28 August 2023, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced its intention to initiate the Qinglang-Hangzhou Special Action regarding Asian Games and Asian Para Games to improve the internet environment. The CAC and Copyright Office of Party Committees in various administrative regions have jointly initiated a Special Action to address various issues. These include spreading false information related to the Asian Games, unauthorised dissemination of event programs, conducting internet news services without permission, generating false videos, creating counterfeit websites and applications, organising "human flesh searches," promoting excessive online gaming among minors, and unauthorised marketing activities using event names and collecting personal data without consent. In order to address the issues outlined by CAC, local authorities will take corrective actions, encourage website platforms to fulfil their responsibilities, intensify investigations, and impose penalties for non-compliance. They will also establish online reporting channels to facilitate public reporting of harmful online activities.
