On 29 September 2023, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) published a progress report regarding the CAC Qinglang-Hangzhou Special Action regarding the Asian Games and Asian Para Games for the improvement of the internet environment. During the special action, the CAC has conducted investigations and imposed penalties on illegal and unauthorised online accounts. Since its inception, local cyberspace authorities have guided and instructed website platforms to adhere to their primary duties, encompassing a comprehensive cleanup, rectification, and reinforcement of efforts to detect and investigate violations. Online platforms, such as Weibo, Douyin, Tencent, and others, have removed over 10'000 illegal accounts, deleted 74'000 pieces of relevant online information, and removed multiple listings. The CAC stated that it will continue to work with relevant departments to address online issues that may disrupt events and intensify investigations and penalties to ensure a clean online environment for the Asian Games and Asian Paralympic Games. In addition, a "Reporting Area for Harmful Information Related to the Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Paralympic Games" has been established, encouraging internet users to report harmful content for a cleaner online space.
