Published progress report of Qinglang Special Action to Regulate Orderly Online Communication in Key Network Traffic Links

On 15 May 2023, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued a statement regarding the progress of the Qinglang Special Action to Regulate Orderly Online Communication in Key Network Traffic Links. The Special Action was initiated with the intention of cleaning up fake news outlets on key websites, such as short-video platforms and search engines. The Special Action focuses on the responsibilities of website operators in removing disinformation, including accounts pretending to be official news outlets. According to the CAC, thanks to the participation of website operators, 107,000 fake news units and 835,000 fake news pieces have been removed since 6 April 2023. The CAC stated that it would continue conducting Special Action.
