Announced UOKiK investigation into Amazon for alleged practices violating collective consumer interests

On 1 February 2023, the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) announced it had brought charges against Amazon.pl for alleged practices that violate collective consumer interests. In particular, OUKiK found has found that Amazon may be misleading consumers into thinking that a sale is concluded when it reserves for itself the right to cancel transactions. Furthemore, OUKiKfound found that information published on the website on product availability and delivery deadlines may be false. Finally, there may be improper communications to consumers related to the “Guarantee for delivery” offer. The company is at risk of a fine of up to 10% of their annual turnover.
