Chinese Taipei: Adopted Administrative Measures for the Security Maintenance of Personal Data Files in the Dating Service Industry establishing data protection regulation

On 30 August 2022, the Taiwanese Ministry of Interior issued Administrative Measures for the Security Maintenance of Personal Data Files in the Dating Service Industry including dating websites or mobile applications. Companies affected are defined as business operators whose purpose is to provide services to match two parties for mutual acquaintance and communication, and to collect remuneration. The measures stipulate that the industry must have a personal data file security maintenance plan and a personal data processing method to implement the maintenance and management of personal data files, with the objective of preventing data from being stolen and tampered with, damaged, lost, or leaked. The industry should also formulate a personal data protection management policy, and state the specific purpose, legal basis and other related protection matters of collecting, processing and utilizing personal data at an appropriate place in the business premises or on a website or mobile application.
