United Kingdom: Announced investigation into Education Software Solutions (ESS) over alleged abuse of dominant position

On 26 April 2022, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) opened an investigation into Education Software Solutions (ESS) to determine if the entity is abusing its dominant position in the provision of management information systems software. The ESS allegedly switched customers to 3-year contracts without consulting its customers and providing the possibility to avoid contract changes. The CMA will publish its preliminary findings in December 2022.
