China: Special Action to Improve Internet Environment for Minors announced

On 18 July 2022, a number of Chinese government departments, including the Ministry of Education, announced the launch of a 2 month-long Special Action to improve the internet environment for minors. As part of the Special Action, the departments will focus on online video, streaming, social media, learning, game, and e-commerce platforms used by minors to investigate a number of areas of concern, such as the privacy of minors, livestream reward systems targeted at minors, cyberbullying, and tools for minors to circumvent restrictions on gaming time.
