Description

Adopted framework for healthcare data warehouses

The Commission National de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) has adopted a framework to allow the registration of healthcare data warehouses that follow certain criteria related to data governance. The framework is dedicated to databases containing health data that are used for research purposes, in particular for the exercise of a public interest mission according to Article 6 of the GDPR. The compliance with the framework allows the data warehouses' controllers to not request prior authorization from the CNIL before starting to operate. The warehouses that do not meet the framework criteria must apply to the CNIL to obtain authorization before starting to operate.
