Adopted Updated OECD Principles on Artificial Intelligence

On 3 May 2024, the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting updated the OECD Principles on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to adapt to the rapid advancements in AI technologies, particularly the emergence of general-purpose and generative AI. The Principles aim to provide AI actors with guidelines for achieving trustworthy AI, including by promoting such values as transparency, explainability, security, and accountability. The revisions focus on key elements such as addressing safety concerns, combating mis- and disinformation, promoting responsible business conduct throughout the AI system lifecycle, enhancing transparency and responsible disclosure, emphasising environmental sustainability, and promoting interoperable governance and policy environments for AI.
