Announced establishment of European Commission Digital Services Act whistleblower tool
On 30 April 2024, the European Commission announced the establishment of the Digital Services Act (DSA) Whistleblower Tool. The tool is designed to allow individuals possessing information about very large online platforms (VLOPs) and search engines (VLOSEs) to report practices that may harm the digital space anonymously. This initiative aims to ensure that platforms and search engines with over 45 million users in the EU comply with the DSA obligations, including measures related to illegal content, disinformation, and transparency in content moderation and advertising practices.
