On 23 April 2024, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics of Indonesia announced the commencement of drafting of regulations for the governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The drafting process involves both horizontal and vertical approaches, encompassing existing regulations in the Information and Electronic Transactions Law, Personal Data Protection Law, and the Minister of Communication and Informatics Circular on AI Ethics, as well as sector-specific regulations in areas such as finance and health.
