United States of America: Issued ruling in lawsuit against Multi Media LLC for non-compliance with Texas Age Verification Law (HB 1181)

On 26 April 2024, the District Court of Travis County issued its ruling in the lawsuit against Multi Media LLC for non-compliance with the Texas Age Verification Law (HB 1181). The Texas Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Multi Media LLC, a pornography distribution company, for violating the age verification requirements established by Bill 1181. The Bill mandates reasonable age verification measures to protect minors from exposure to obscene materials. As a consequence of Multi Media LLC's breach of the law, the company is mandated to remit a civil penalty amounting to USD 675'000 and to integrate an age verification service to guarantee adherence to Bill 1181.
