Adopted CONANDA Resolution No. 245 Providing for the Rights of Children and Adolescents in a Digital Environment including Age Verification Requirements

On 5 April 2024, the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CONANDA) adopted Resolution No. 245 Providing for the Rights of Children and Adolescents in a Digital Environment including age verification requirements. This Resolution mandates that companies providing digital products and services accessible to children and adolescents must implement effective age verification mechanisms to prevent access to platforms, products, services, and content that are illegal or unsuitable for their age. These mechanisms must be designed to ensure compliance with legal requirements and prevent access to inappropriate content. Further, such companies must also provide parental mediation mechanisms. The Resolution enteres into force on 9 April 2024.
