Introduced Generative AI Copyright Disclosure Act of 2024 (HR 7913)

On 9 April 2024, the Generative AI Right Disclosure Act of 2024 was introduced to the United States House of Representatives. The Bill would mandate entities involved in creating or significantly altering a training dataset for generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems to submit a notice to the Register of Copyrights. The notice should include detailed information on any copyrighted works used in the training dataset, whether they were included during dataset creation or alterations and the URL for publicly available training datasets. Additionally, the Act stipulates that the Register of Copyrights must issue regulations to implement these requirements within 180 days following the Act's enactment. Failure to adhere to this requirement will result in a civil penalty of USD 5'000.
