Closed consultation on Competition Bureau inquiry into artificial intelligence and competition

On 4 May 2024, the Competition Bureau of Canada closed the public consultation on artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on competition in Canada. The Competition Bureau issued a discussion paper outlining information on the development of competition in AI markets, the Bureau's role in protecting and promoting competition in AI markets, and its preparedness to address competitive harm from AI. The Bureau gathered feedback from businesses operating in AI markets and individuals with expertise or experience in AI technologies regarding monopolistic practices, cartels, deceptive marketing practices and measures that regulators could implement to promote competition.
