Republic of Korea: Implemented Presidential Decree of Game Industry Promotion Act (Presidential Decree No. 34114)

On 22 March 2024, the Presidential Decree (No. 34114) concerning the Game Industry Promotion Act was implemented. The decree updates the disclosure requirements following the adoption of the Law amending the Game Industry Promotion Act (Law no. 19242). Specifically, in the decree, adjustments were made to rating indications for games inaccessible to youth, updating the age from 18 to 19. Specific guidelines were established for displaying probability information, ensuring clarity and accessibility for users. Additionally, criteria were set for exempting certain game products from this obligation, including small and medium-sized businesses meeting specified requirements. The revised decree outlines detailed provisions for implementing these changes, including transitional measures for existing game products.
