United States of America: Adopted House Bill 5690 Creating West Virginia Task Force on Artificial Intelligence

On 4 March 2024, the House of Delegates of West Virginia adopted House Bill 5690, which establishes the West Virginia Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. The Task Force, organised within the Office of the Governor, is responsible for recommending a definition of artificial intelligence for legislative use, determining relevant state agencies to oversee AI policy, developing best practices for public sector uses of AI, and assessing the use of AI in the workforce. The bill enters into force 90 days after adoption, subject to the governor's approval.
