Malaysia: Signed Singapore-Malaysia Memorandum of Understanding to combat scams

On 25 February 2024, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The MoU aims to combat scams across telecommunication channels. The agreement seeks to strengthen the cross-border exchange of strategic intelligence and drive a coordinated regional approach to better protect citizens from scammers. Areas of cooperation between the parties involve regulatory assistance concerning fraudulent actions, research and education, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise through training programs and staff exchanges.
