United States of America: Passed Bill on Artificial Intelligence Amendments including AI authority governance

On 13 February 2024, the Bill on Artificial Intelligence Amendments was passed by the Utah Senate. The Bill establishes the Artificial Intelligence Policy Act, which includes the creation of the Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy within the Department of Commerce. The Office is tasked with overseeing an artificial intelligence learning laboratory program, consulting with stakeholders, establishing rules for the laboratory program, and reporting annually to the Business and Labor Interim Committee. Specifically, the learning laboratory program, which the Office oversees, analyses AI regulation and proposes legislation. The Bill is now passed to the Utah House of Representatives.
