Closed Consultation on Privacy Impact Assessments for AI

On 1 April 2024, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) closed its consultation on how privacy impact assessments (PIAs) can be more effective at mitigating privacy risks, including those exacerbated by artificial intelligence (AI) and other advances in technology and data capabilities. The consultation aimed to gather insights on the role of PIAs in addressing and mitigating privacy risks and facilitating transparency, as various privacy hazards are linked to the generation, gathering, utilisation, handling, retention, distribution, revelation, and elimination of personally identifiable information.
