China: Announced Qinglang 2024 Spring Festival Internet Environment Improvement Special Action

On 29 January 2024, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) launched a one-month special action named 'Qinglang 2024 Spring Festival Internet Environment Improvement'. The operation aims to rectify content deemed problematic, including promoting certain behaviour that violates public order, spreading online hostility, concocting false information, involves pornography, gambling and online fraud, advocates showing off wealth, and endangering the physical and mental health of minors. According to CAC, the operation is intended to create a positive, civilized, and healthy online atmosphere for the Spring Festival.
