On 15 March 2024, the Chilean Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation (MinCiencia) closed its consultation on the National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2024. The consultation was part of an update process for the Ethics and Governance axis of the policy, which has been in place since 2021. The consultation aimed to gather inputs from citizens on the proposed changes to the 2021 National Artificial Intelligence Policy. The changes aim at ensuring ethical use in the public sector, emphasizing international collaboration, particularly in Latin America. Additionally, it now addresses AI's role in combating climate change, acknowledges AI's impact on children and the workforce. Further, the policy touches upon gender, equity, non-discrimination, creation and intellectual property, cultural heritage preservation, secure digital ecosystem and regulation.
