Entry into force with grace period of EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information including Data protection regulation
On 20 August 2020, the EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information entered in force, with a grace period until 21 August 2021, when it is fully implemented. The regulation requires eFTI platforms to treat personal data in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and commercial data in a way that ensures its confidentiality. In addition, eFTI platforms shall keep logs of changes and deletions as well as of the natural or legal person responsible for each input. The Commission shall adopt delegated acts implementing the above, the first of which must be adopted before 21 August 2023.
