United Kingdom: Closed Competition and Markets Authority investigation into the proposed acquisition of Figma by Adobe

On 18 December 2023, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) closed the investigation into the proposed acquisition of Figma, Inc. (Figma) by Adobe Inc. (Adobe). This decision followed the initial action taken by the CMA on 13 July 2023 under section 33(1) of the Enterprise Act 2002 to examine whether the merger could potentially create a relevant merger situation leading to a significant reduction in competition within any UK market for goods or services. After receiving final statements from Adobe and Figma that they had abandoned their acquisition plans, the Inquiry Group concluded, in accordance with section 37(1) of the Act, that the proposed merger arrangements had been abandoned and, therefore, closed the merger investigation.
