Georgia: Announced PDPS investigation into Yandex.Go App regarding possible unlawful personal data processings

On 9 August 2023, the Georgian Personal Data Protection Service (PDPS) announced the opening of an investigation into the Yandex.Go App to examine the lawfulness of processing personal data through the application. The PDPS noted the significant public interest in this investigation and stressed the importance of citizens familiarising themselves with detailed information about the data that the app will be able to access on their device before downloading it. Individuals were advised to proceed with the download once they had obtained this understanding.
