United Kingdom: Issued final order preventing the acquisition of Pulsic Ltd

On 17 August 2022, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy denied the acquisition of electronic design automation company Pulsic Ltd by Super Orange HK Holding Ltd. The investigation was launched according to section 8(2)(c) of the National Security and Investment Act 2021. The Secretary of State rejected the proposed acquisition on the grounds of national security risk, including the possibility of dual use application by the qualifying entity in question. Also, electronic design automation tools could be used to build defence or technological capabilities. The order comes into force on the same day.
