On 25 March 2023, the Ibero-American Charter of Principles and Rights in Digital Environments was adopted. The charter aims to promote common principles that states should consider when adopting or adjusting national laws and implementing public policies regarding protecting rights and fulfilling responsibilities in digital environments. It applies to businesses and civil society. The charter emphasises the need to increase technology transfer through technical and financial assistance, cooperation, and the development of scientific and technological capacities to bridge the digital and development gaps between countries. Additionally, it aims to promote Ibero-American cooperation to advance data interoperability and exchange experiences and best practices that contribute to the design and implementation of public policies for protecting critical information infrastructures.
