Announced European Commission investigation into the proposed acquisition of iRobot by Amazon
On 6 July 2023, the European Commission announced it had opened an in-depth investigation of Amazon's proposed acquisition of iRobot. In particular, the Commission will assess whether the transaction would allow Amazon to restrict competition in the market for robot vacuum cleaners and whether Amazon would strengthen its position in the market for online marketplace services to third-party sellers (and related advertising services) or other data-related markets. The Commission has until 15 November 2023, to adopt a decision regarding the transaction.
