India: Opened consultation on Innovative Technologies, Services, Use Cases, and Business Models through Regulatory Sandbox in Digital Communication Sector Paper

On 19 June 2023, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) opened the consultation on the Innovative Technologies, Services, Use Cases, and Business Models through Regulatory Sandbox in Digital Communication Sector Paper until 17 July 2023. The Paper aims to promote creativity and accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and edge computing in the rapidly evolving digital communication sector. The consultation paper explores existing sandbox frameworks globally and within India, aiming to gather feedback and recommendations on the proposed draft sandbox framework. The framework covers participant eligibility, the application process, evaluation criteria, waivers or modifications to rules, oversight, and funding for innovation.
