China: Implemented Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence Regulation

On 1 November 2022, the Artificial Intelligence Regulation of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was implemented. The Regulation seeks to promote the development of the AI industry by encouraging government agencies to be early adopters of AI related technology. Further, under the Regulations the local government will create a public data resource system for the AI industry and will develop public data sharing guidelines for organisations and companies in the AI sector. The Regulations will also increase governmental financial support for AI research. Shenzhen is the first region in China to implement a local framework regulating AI.
