Bahamian Government publishes outline for Future Digital Asset Framework

On 21 April 2022, the Bahamian government published a white paper that sets out its vision for a regulatory framework around digital assets for the years 2022 - 2026. The Bahamas wish to develop and improve the attractiveness of digital assets for its citizens and specify the legal framework around the assets. Another goal is to promote innovation and research in the fintech space and build expertise and capacity in that field. Finally, the government plans to further promote the sand dollar (Bahama's Central Bank Digital Currency) and make the tax payments payable through digital assets.
