On 3 March 2021, China's State Administration for Market Supervision (SAMR) has issued fines to five companies for engaging in unfair competitive practices in community group buying. Community group buying involves a group of people, often neighbours, who coordinate grocery shopping to obtain discounts on bulk orders. The five companies in question have been found by the SAMR to engage in product dumping and price gouging. Four of the companies were fined 1.5 million yuan, and another company was fined 500,000 yuan.
