Introduction of Digital Defense Leadership Act to the House
On 6 August 2021, the draft bill of the Digital Defense Leadership Act was introduced in the US House of Representatives. As part of a national security initiative to support the development of AI and digital technology for use in matters of national security, the draft bill provides for the establishment of new AI research funds (sections 12 and 15), an agile contracting mechanism for software acquisition (section 10) as well as increased digital expertise recruiting presence for the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community (section 17).
