Competition and Markets Authority opens Consultation on Google's Commitments to address Concerns regarding Plans to Remove Third Party Cookies (Case Nr. 50972)

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published a notice of intention to accept the commitments made by Google in regards to the removal of third-party cookies, while opening up a consultation to the public on June 11, 2021. The consultation will close on July 8, 2021. Furthermore, the CMA announced that it will take on an oversight role over Google's plans, making sure that effective competition is upheld. If the consultation is accepted, Google's proposals would turn into legally binding commitments.
