Opened consultation on FCC proposed amendments to Spectrum Rules and Policies for the Operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems

On 7 February 2023, the public consultation opened on the US Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) proposed amendment to the Spectrum Rules and Policies for the Operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, until 9 March 2023. Under the FCC's proposed amendment, the use of wireless communications, drones, in pilotless aerial systems in the 5030-5091 MHz band would be allowed. The FCC proposed to amend the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to allow the use of drones in the 5030-5091 MHz band. The amended section entitled "unmanned aircraft control services" outlines the rules for the use of drones, from general rules to technical requirements.
