Bangladesh: Released Draft Data Protection Act 2022 including cross-border data transfer regulation

On 16 July 2022, the Bangladesh Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) released the draft Data Protection Act 2022. The draft outlines requirements for the cross-border transfer of personal data. In particular, the draft specifies that entities that want to transfer data outside the country will have to obtain authorization from the government.
