Introduction of Bill amending Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act

On 13 January 2021, the Bill amending the Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act (HB 53) was introduced to the House of Representatives of Illinois. The purpose of the Bill is to detect and avoid racial bias in the use of artificial intelligence. The Bill would require employers who rely exclusively on artificial intelligence to verify whether an applicant qualifies for an oral interview are required to report certain demographic information to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The latter must analyse the data and submit it to the governor and the General Assembly.
