Opened second public consultation on draft Data protection and journalism code of practice

On 21 September 2022, the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) opened a second consultation on an updated draft of the Data protection and journalism Code of Practice. On the same day, the ICO released the results of its first consultation, on which the revisions to the draft were based. Among other issues, the draft Code provides information regarding the applicability to journalism of the special purposes exemption under the Data Protection Act 2018. Further, the draft Code provides guidance on how to keep personal data secure, use personal data lawfully and fairly, and help people to exercise their rights over their personal data. The consultation closes on 16 November 2022.
