Roskomnadzor imposes measures against Tik Tok, Telegram, Zoom, Discord, and Pinterest for failure to remove content classified as illegal

On 19 August 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia, Roskomnadzor, imposed coercive measures against TikTok, Telegram Messenger, Inc, Zoom Video Communications, Discord and Pinterest. The companies are accused of not complying with the requirements issued to remove content considered illegal by the Russian authorities (Federal Law No. 236-FZ “On the activities of foreign persons on the Internet in the territory of the Russian Federation”). The coercive measure will be in the form of reporting to users of search engines that these companies violate the law. The Roskomnadzor affirms that the measures will be in place until the companies remove the content flagged as illegal.
