Announced investigation into Google's, Apple's and One Store's in-app payments

On 16 August 2022, the Korean Communications Commission (KCC) announced that it will open an investigation into Google, Apple and One Store to determine if the companies violated the Telecommunications Business Act by offering their payment option and making it more difficult to use a third-party payment option. The Korean Telecommunications Business Act prohibits app stores from forcing developers to use certain in-app payment methods. The KCC stated that through its investigation it will assess whether such acts are equivalent to forcing a certain in-app payment method.
